DraftKings U.S. Open picks: $7,000 range

Harris English, $7,900 – Prior to the BMW and Tour Championship, English had five-straight top-25 finishes and five top-20 finishes in six tournaments. He was phenomenal down the stretch and, if that form maintains, he could pop up at Winged Foot.

Abraham Ancer, $7,800 – I like Ancer over defending U.S. Open champion Gary Woodland at the same price. Neither has been in particularly good form but Ancer’s ability to find fairways and win with irons on a course that doesn’t demand big distance could fit his eye quite well.

Matthew Wolff, $7.700 – Wolff is exceptionally inconsistent but his highs are incredible to watch. He contended at the PGA Championship and has all of the shots in his bag if he’s on. It’s a gamble to have him in your DraftKings lineup but, if he hits, it could be a great payoff out of this pricing tier.

Louis Oosthuizen, $7,600 – One of the value darlings this week, Oosthuizen is fantastic and consistent from tee-to-green, which will be critical here. Does he have the juice to win? Probably not. But a top-10 finish is very much in the realm of possibility for the South African.

Jordan Spieth, $7,500 – Yes, the same Jordan Spieth that seemingly has no idea where his ball is going. Look, you’re playing with fire if he’s in your lineup. But the rough is penal to everyone and isn’t drastically different two feet into it to 30 feet into it. That could put Spieth in the mix, especially if he finds some mojo with the putter.

Brendon Todd, $7,400 – Todd showed at the PGA Championship that he can compete well with big hitters in majors, finishing 17th. His accuracy will be pivotal here but, at this price point, he’s underpriced and should be a great value play here.

Si Woo Kim, $7,200 – There’s no doubt that Kim is a wild card, which is why he’s $7,200. However, he can compete with almost anyone when he’s in the zone. That may not make him a comforting option but, at the bottom of this tier, it’s at least worth considering.

Alex Noren, $7,100 – Noren is frustrating overall but he popped up in the restart with three top-10s since July 23. We’ll see if that form and a nice putter can carry into this first major of the new season but he’s worth a look at $7,100.
