Davante Adams/Aaron Rodgers – Green Bay Packers

The Packers drafted Jordan Love as Aaron Rodgers’ replacement this year but Rodgers looked anything other than a quarterback in the twilight of his career as he torched the Minnesota Vikings’ defense with Davante Adams the primary beneficiary.

Adams enjoyed a monster day as he hauled in a team-record 14 receptions for 156 yards and two touchdowns in the Packers’ 43-34 victory.

His efforts saw Adams finish Sunday as the highest-scoring wide receiver in standard fantasy formats and the top scorer overall in PPR leagues.

It was a performance that underlined the often underrated Adams status as one of the premier wide receivers in the NFL and should serve to give fantasy owners hope that he and Rodgers are at the start of a special season that could decide plenty of leagues.

Only Russell Wilson scored more fantasy points than Rodgers among quarterbacks and the smart money is on he and Adams continuing their fast start in Week 2 against a Detroit Lions defense that surrendered a 17-point lead over the Chicago Bears in Week 1.

Rodgers was able to spread the ball around with success as Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Allen Lazard each scored touchdowns but, with 17 targets, Adams is the receiver in whom he puts the vast majority of his faith.

If they continue to click to the level they did in Week 1, fantasy owners who invested in one or both of this Packers tandem will be on the road to excellent seasons.
