2021 NFL Mock Draft: Bengals add more protection for Joe Burrow
By Brad Weiss
The New York Giants hosted the Pittsburgh Steelers in primetime on Monday night, and actually held a 10-3 lead early in the contest. However, Big Ben Roethlisberger made a triumphant return to the lineup, and the Steelers got a big game from Benny Snell, beating New York by ten at MetLife Stadium.
If the Giants continue to lose, they could be headed to a top-10 pick, and I like them to address their issues on the edge with the pick. Gregory Rousseau from Miami (FL) is a special talent, and he would join a young pass rush that features the likes of Dexter Lawrence and Leonard Williams for the G-Men.
The Detroit Lions were a D’Andre Swift dropped pass away from beating the Chicago Bears in Week 1, which would have been a tremendous NFC North victory in Week 1. I actually think the Lions are going to be better than advertised this season, so a top-10 pick may not be in their cards, but they land here based on the latest odds.
Looking at their roster, they need some help up front along the defensive line, and a player like Marvin Wilson can be incredibly disruptive in the run, and pass game. Detroit addressed the edges in recent drafts with Julian Okwara and Da’Shawn Hand, so the time has come to bring in young talent to the interior.
The Houston Texans lost to the Kansas City Chiefs on Thursday night, and the Miami Dolphins will be hoping they do more of that this season. The Dolphins hold the Texans’ first round pick thanks to the Laremy Tunsil trade, and as of now, they would be picking twice in the first ten picks next April.
With this pick, the Dolphins should look to add a quality wide receiver for when Tua Tagovailoa eventually takes over for Ryan Fitzpatrick. Rondale Moore was an incredible playmaker for Purdue, and after opting out, is already preparing for the 2021 NFL Draft, where he could find himself selected inside the top-10.
