3. He won’t set the Dawg Pound on fire, but C.J. Uzomah will be a sleeper tight end

Game: Cincinnati Bengals at Cleveland Browns (Thursday, 9/27, 8:20 pm EST)

There have been oodles of seasons where this matchup, Bengals vs. Browns, is one you merely browse the box score the day after as it isn’t worth your time. The nuts and bolts of this game could very well be reminiscent of those days, but the lead-in to the contest is more intriguing than year’s past. Why? Because it’s Joe Burrow vs. Baker Mayfield for the first time. If both men mature as their respective franchise’s forecast, this head-to-head clash could be the first of several memorable meetings.

Cleveland surrendered two touchdowns to Baltimore Ravens tight end Marc Andrews. C.J. Uzomah isn’t as coveted or talented as Andrews, but Uzomah will find the endzone. Young quarterbacks — in this case Joe Burrow — rely on tight ends as security blankets. This increases Uzomah’s stock for Thursday night.

Now, don’t go starting Uzomah over your Kittles and Kelces. But if you’re current tight end is shoddy or you aren’t thrilled with your matchup, nudge Uzomah into your lineup for a look.

The Bengals-Browns game could be incredibly sloppy and resemble a comedy of errors. Or it could be a defense-free track meet. There’s unpredictability here. In either scenario, Uzomah should get some targets and therefore serve as a sufficient tight end sleeper.
