5 La Liga players who have the most to prove this season

4. Samuel Chukwueze — Villarreal
Samuel Chukwueze is one of the brightest young prospects in La Liga today. But in world football, potential means nothing if the player can not produce up to his calling.
In three seasons with Villarreal, Chukwueze has yet to make a strong impact with the club. He has contributed a mere 12 goals with eight goals and four assists over 64 career La Liga appearances with the Yellow Submarine. This is surely not going to cut it for a talent like him.
He has the potential to surely exceed expectations. What makes Chukwueze stand out is his prowess out on the flanks. He does not have much of a problem speeding on by fullbacks with his quick pace. Chukwueze works extremely well when navigating in open spaces thanks to his ability to veer while maintaining possession.
The Nigerian forward is also capable of becoming a playmaker. In league play last season, he averaged 1.56 key passes per 90 and 1.61 passes into the final third per 90 — both of which were up from the previous season. It is more so down to his decision-making in the final third that will help elevate him into becoming a revered on-ball playmaker in the league.
Chukwueze is still a raw talent, but this season will be crucial for him. He is more than capable of becoming a double-digit scorer who can also rack up multiple assists over a season. Whether on the wing or in the half-spaces, it will be interesting to see how new manager Unai Emery utilizes the promising attacking talent.
