College football DFS running back picks September 19:

Top Tier:

Cam’Ron Harris was an absolute monster against UAB. He’s going to find it tougher sledding against Louisville, but he is clearly the top back for Miami. Still, this price is tough to swallow against a tough Louisville front.

Justin Henderson ran for 1,062 yards and 15 touchdowns last year and is facing a Texas State front that has still allowed their share of yards on the ground. If I’m paying top dollar, it will be for Henderson, not Harris.

Middle Tier:

Running back is now a huge question mark for UTEP. Quardraiz Wadley is out for the year after opting out after re-injuring his leg. Deion Hankins, who filled in admirably in the opener for Wadley, was limited at practice. If Hankins plays with no limitations, he’s a nice play. If he’s out, we have some great value plays with Reynaldo Flores and Joshua Fields. Stay tuned.

I like Javian Hawkins, but not against Miami. With Brock Sturges cheaper, I’d use him instead. He has seen steady carries for Texas State and has found the end zone in each of the first two games.

Tyrese White is the starter for Abilene Christian but considering this is their first game and UTEP’s third, expect a split of most snaps by all members of this team. It’s a plus matchup, but everyone on this team is a risk right now. We have absolutely nothing to go on.

All three top backs for NC State return and all were successful last season. Zonovan Knight led the team in rushing as a freshman. If only using one Wolfpack back, he’s my choice.

Bargain Shoppers:

This is a good matchup for Wake, but neither back separated themselves against Clemson. I prefer the upside of Christian Beal-Smith, but unless one emerges as the clear starter, I’m likely avoiding this situation.

Calvin Hill should still get enough carries for Texas State to be worth a flier at that low price. He’s the one that had more success in week 1 with McBride under center. It may be best to wait and see who the starting QB is in this one first.

Frank Gore Jr. showed a lot of wiggle against a surprisingly good South Alabama front. If he gets 12 touches again for this price, we could be paid off rather handsomely.
