Scouting Report. OC. Kansas City Chiefs. 2. player. Pick Analysis. Eric Bieniemy. 124

It’s genuinely shocking that Bieniemy is still a coordinator with the Kansas City Chiefs. He has years of experience, was instrumental in the development of Patrick Mahomes, and was in charge of one of the most statistically proficient offenses we’ve ever seen in a two-year span in league history.

After the Chiefs won Super Bowl LIV, they had to be ecstatic that Bieniemy wasn’t lured away by anyone in need of a new head coach, as he could help them run it back in 2020. Eventually, however, Bieniemy will need to scratch the head coaching itch, and the Jets could give Bieniemy that opportunity.

The Andy Reid coaching tree has proven to be pretty fruitful in recent years in the likes of Doug Pederson and Matt Nagy, and Bieniemy has the potential to be better than all of them. It remains to be seen if he gets rid of Darnold or chooses to keep him around.

No matter what, the Jets will have much better offensive infrastructure with Bieniemy and whatever assistants he plucks from the ranks of Kansas City than someone as clueless and genuinely confused as Gase on the sidelines. This should’ve been the move they made in 2019, but they’ll get another chance to make it in 2020.
