10 RB sleepers to target for fantasy football Week 2
By Dustin Baker
1. Ronald Jones (TB)
Game: Carolina Panthers at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Sunday, 9/20,1:00 pm EST)
By fantasy football standards, the Buccaneers have a frustrating running back hodgepodge. For football operations, it’s marvelous. Ronald Jones, Leonard Fournette, LeSean McCoy, and Ke’Shawn Vaughn. There are some NFL teams in which any one of those men could fill in as RB1.
Ronald Jones was “the guy” last week, although he was not fantasy gold. He received 17 carries from quarterback Tom Brady and turned those into 66 rushing yards. He was also targeted three times via pass.
Jones will look across the line of scrimmage this weekend at a team in the Panthers that allowed Raiders tailback Josh Jacobs to pop off for three touchdowns in Week 1.
Ride that trend with Jones.
2. Joshua Kelley (LAC)
Game: Kansas City Chiefs at Los Angeles Chargers (Sunday, 9/20, 4:25 pm EST)
The Chargers RB1 is Austin Ekeler, and that is non-debatable. Conversely, the RB2 spot is in flux at the moment as the typical RB2, Justin Jackson, is doubtful this week with a hamstring ailment. That leaves defacto RB2, Joshua Kelley. He’s a 2020 fourth-round pick from UCLA that the Chargers will mix into the offense when Ekeler gets a breather during this week’s game. Kelley could see some touches and goalline attention.
