Yannick Ngakoue gets his welcome to Minnesota moment

Ngakoue was acquired from the Jacksonville Jaguars just a few weeks before the start of the regular season in an effort to replace Everson Griffen, a longtime Vikings edge rusher who signed with the Dallas Cowboys this offseason. Without much time to prepare in a new system, Ngakoue didn’t make much of an impact in the Vikings Week 1 loss against the Green Bay Packers. To be fair, though, most of the Vikings defense failed to show up in that one.

Week 2 has been a different story for Ngakoue, as his sack-fumble could prove to be a pivotal turning point for Mike Zimmer’s team.

Rivers never had a chance, with Ngakoue closing on him exceptionally quickly.

With the secondary in flux, the Vikings defensive line needs to improve, especially in the interior. So far this year, it’s been a disappointment, and Ngakoue is the leader of said group. If this truly is the return of the purple people eaters (or so Vikings fans would like us to think), Ngakoue has to live up to his price tag.

Rick Spielman traded a second-round pick, plus a conditional fifth-round pick that could go as high as a third.
