3. Chicago Bears take on Falcons’ shattered psyche

Atlanta sprinted out to a big lead at Dallas in Week 2, but managed to lose the game in historic fashion. They became the first team since 1933 to lose a game in which they scored 39 points and didn’t commit a single turnover.

The Bears come into this matchup flying high with their 2-0 record. It should be pointed out that Chicago’s wins are over the Lions and Giants. No one will crown them champions after narrow wins over two of the worst teams in the league.

Even so, the Falcons have the bigger challenge coming into this game. The emotional toll of the gut wrenching defeat in Dallas will be tough to shake off in just one week. If they come into this game with a mental hangover, the Bears have a real chance to get out to a 3-0 start.

In many ways, this game feels like a referendum on Dan Quinn’s qualifications to continue as the Falcons head coach. If they lay an egg in this one, it’s hard to envision a scenario where he gets things back on track. He can’t afford to let the Cowboys defeat cost him two weeks in a row.
