Vanessa Bryant is suing the LA County sheriff after they used their cellphones to share photos of Kobe Bryant’s crash.

In the aftermath of Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant, along with his daughter Gianna, passing away in a helicopter crash that also claimed the lives of seven others, Kobe’s widow Vanessa has been heralded for his strength and composure in what can only be described as an unthinkably heartbreaking scenario. After some shady goings-on at the crash site from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office, Bryant decided, justifiably, to take them to court.

Bryant is suing Alex Villanueva and the Sheriff’s Office, citing severe emotional distress after alleging that no fewer than eight deputies on the scene took pictures of the crash site on bodies on their personal cell phone.

Vanessa Bryant is claiming one deputy showed photos of the crash to a woman at a bar

The lawsuit alleges that one of the deputies who took pictures showed the photos to a woman at a bar in late February. The woman who saw the pictures eventually blew the whistle. TMZ is reporting that Bryant is accusing Villanueva of trying to cover up this incident by telling the offending deputy to delete the photos in order to escape discipline.

The suit, which is seeking unspecified punitive damages, insists that Villanueva didn’t tell the family about this development and that the family only found out when the story broke in the media.

Bryant allegedly, “feels ill at the thought of strangers gawking at images of her deceased husband and child, and she lives in fear that she or her children will one day confront horrific images of their loved ones online.”

If what Bryant is alleging in this lawsuit is true, those are some truly depraved actions from the sheriff’s office.
