5. Aaron Rodgers, QB (Green Bay Packers)

Last Week’s Ranking: 2nd (-3)

2020 Stats: 604 Passing Yards, 6 Passing TDs, 0 INTs, 67.6% Comp, 119.4 Passer Rating

The Packers were the recipients of a brief scare from the Detroit Lions at Lambeau Field. Detroit roared to an early 14-3 lead over Green Bay, but the tide turned in the Packers favor during the second quarter. Aaron Rodgers delivered two touchdowns passes — one to Aaron Jones, the other to Robert Tonyan — and the Packers seized control of the contest. From there, they were relentless.

Green Bay concluded its day with a total of 42 points, doubling up the Lions who managed three touchdowns. Rodgers’ performance was a continuation of the dissection he conducted on the Minnesota Vikings in Week 1.

For the game vs. Detroit, though, Rodgers was not the sole proprietor of stardom. The aforementioned Jones put the game further out of reach with a humongous start-of-the-third-quarter touchdown run of 75 yards.

Rodgers and the Packers had a teensy scare against the lowly Lions, but Jones was the main the swinger of the sledgehammer. Therefore, Rodgers falls a bit in this week’s edition of the Stock Watch. Regardless, his 240 passing yards and two touchdowns were commendable.

The New Orleans Saints hope to oust Rodgers from these rankings when they meet Green Bay in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome this weekend.
