Lynx star Napheesa Collier and WNBA players decried the lack of charges in the Breonna Taylor case.

Game 2 of the WNBA semifinals between the Minnesota Lynx and the Seattle Storm provided a platform for players to express their dismay over the recent ruling in the Breonna Taylor case.

Napheesa Collier of the Lynx served as the spokeswoman for WNBA players ahead of the game.

“Our hearts are with Ms. Tamika Palmer. It has been 195 days since her daughter Breonna Taylor was killed. 195 days and still no one was charged with her death,” Collier read. “We strongly support the sentiment expressed by the family of Breonna Taylor. The result is outrageous and offensive. No one needs to live in the commonwealth of Kentucky to understand this case.

“We won’t stop pressing for full transparency and full and complete justice. There are far too many questions left unanswered. Justice is on the ballet. Please register today and vote on or before Nov. 3. Thank you.”

Collier’s message urging people to vote was emphasized by shirts worn by players with a bold “VOTE!” printed on the front.

WNBA players led by Napheesa Collier spoke out on Breonna Taylor.

On Wednesday, a grand jury in Kentucky declined to bring charges against the officers who shot and killed Taylor while she slept during a botched drug raid in March. Only one officer was charged, but not for firing on Taylor. He was brought up on three counts of wanton endangerment for firing at a neighbor’s home.

The ruling left many in the country frustrated and sparked protests.

The WNBA players are among many in the sports world who have spoken out about the ruling.

Despite the underlying societal concerns, a basketball game still had to be played. Seattle won Game 1 over Minnesota, which will look to even things up in the pursuit of a spot in the WNBA Finals.
