NFL quarterback rankings, Week 4: Drew Brees is losing to time
2020 stats: 794 yards | 78.3 completion % | 3 TDs | 3 INTs | 8.6 YPA | 57.3 QBR
Last Week: 20
Rivers is making plays. He’s pushing the ball downfield and has what would easily be the best completion rate of his career (not usually his strong suit). The interceptions are his Achilles heel, something which has long defined his borderline Hall of Fame career.
2020 stats: 811 yards | 62.3 completion % | 5 TDs | 2 INTs | 7.7 YPA | 59.4 QBR
Last Week: 19
The Lions win, the Lions win! Stafford threw for 270 yards and two touchdowns in the upset win over Arizona, spreading the ball around while taking shots. So far, his play has largely been good save for two crushing interceptions.
2020 stats: 784 yards | 74.0 completion % | 6 TDs | 0 INTs | 7.8 YPA | 68.8 QBR
Last Week: 16
Carr is essentially Alex Smith. He’ll complete passes, throw virtually no interceptions and keep you in games. However, they both have the same issue. Neither is willing to make a mistake, and so ample yardage is always left on the field.
2020 stats: 718 yards | 68.1 completion % | 2 TDs | 2 INTs | 7.8 YPA | 58.2 QBR
Last Week: 14
Alright, we’ve seen three games from Newton in New England. The good? Newton is healthy, his legs are fresh and the arm is live. The bad? His pocket presence is average and the weapons around him are decidedly not.
2020 stats: 760 yards | 70.2 completion % | 6 TDs | 1 INTs | 7.3 YPA | 79.8 QBR
Last Week: 7
Brees falls seven spots. Had to happen. Look, he’s a first-ballot Hall of Famer. Maybe he comes on in October. Maybe getting Michael Thomas back makes all the difference. It’s possible. Right now, though, it’s checkdown after checkdown to Alvin Kamara and a host of diminutive receivers. On Sunday, only six of 36 attempts went more than 10 yards in the air. The Saints can’t win long-term in this fashion.
