NFL quarterback rankings, Week 4: Drew Brees is losing to time
2020 stats: 863 yards | 70.0 completion % | 5 TDs | 2 INTs | 9.6 YPA | 76.3 QBR
Last Week: 11
Give Goff credit. After playing sub-par football in 2019, the Rams and their signal-caller have rebounded beautifully. The interceptions are still down, the YPA is awesome and the completion rate is ideal. This, despite injuries to the running backs and the offseason loss of Brandin Cooks.
2020 stats: 1,038 yards | 71.1 completion % | 10 TDs | 1 INTs | 9.1 YPA | 84.9 QBR
Last Week: 13
Allen is the talk of the NFL. Against the Rams, we got the full experience. Allen eclipsed 300 yards for the third time this season (and in his career) while surrendering two turnovers and taking a personal foul before driving down for the winning score. Can he sustain this? The style is likely to frenetic to be great, but he’s clearly improved.
2020 stats: 1,188 yards | 67.1 completion % | 5 TDs | 2 INTs | 8.3 YPA | 76.2 QBR
Last Week: 6
The Cowboys have no defense, shoddy play-calling and an injured offensive line. Prescott has managed to overcome it all on a personal level, on pace to throw for more than 5,000 yards on 8.3 YPA. The final minutes in Seattle — and the turnovers — weren’t ideal, but Prescott has mostly been excellent in Dallas this year.
2020 stats: 576 yards | 68.8 completion % | 5 TDs | 0 INTs | 7.4 YPA | 69.7 QBR
Last Week: 3
Brutal game for Jackson. Yes, there were a few drops, but when you go 15-of-28 for 97 yards in a showcase event, it’s an awful outcome. Jackson is one of the best quarterbacks going, and he’s the reigning MVP for a reason, but this was a dud.
2020 stats: 887 yards | 67.0 completion % | 9 TDs | 0 INTs | 8.4 YPA | 90.2 QBR
Last Week: 4
Despite the absence of Davante Adams on Sunday night, Rodgers was aggressive against the Saints and it paid off. He attempted 12 passes of at least 10 air yards including a touchdown among his five completions. Right now, Rodgers would get this space’s vote as runner-up in the MVP conversation to Russell Wilson.
2020 stats: 898 yards | 67.7 completion % | 9 TDs | 0 INTs | 7.4YPA | 91.8 QBR
Last Week: 2
Mahomes was an absolute tour de force against Baltimore on Monday night. Four touchdown passes and another running, all while gutting the Ravens for 385 yards en route to a blowout victory. Mahomes is the best thrower of the football in the NFL, and he showed why repeatedly.
2020 stats: 925 yards | 76.7 completion % | 14 TDs | 1 INTs | 9.0 YPA | 86.1 QBR
Last Week: 1
Wilson is off to a historic start. He’s the first quarterback to ever throw for 14 touchdowns in the first three weeks of the season. All the other numbers are also top-notch, from QBR and YPA to completion rate. At some point, the rate will slow because regression doesn’t miss, but Wilson is absolutely rolling through September.
