2021 NFL Mock Draft: Minnesota Vikings take Justin Fields
By Brad Weiss
The Detroit Lions pulled off a nice road victory the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, as Matthew Stafford threw for 270 yards and two touchdowns against zero interceptions. Detroit was able to pick up their first win of the season, but the schedule does not get any easier, as they welcome the New Orleans Saints to town in Week 4.
Stafford has been terrific this season, and all signs point to him having a lot left in the tank. With their first round pick in 2021, they should look to bring in protection, especially in the interior, and Alex Leatherwood is a versatile interior lineman who can play both center or guard at the NFL level.
The Jacksonville Jaguars have their franchise quarterback in Gardner Minshew, and in the 2021 NFL Draft, they will have to shots in the first round. With the No. 14 overall pick, they should look to get a weapon for Minshew, adding the best tight end in this draft class in Kyle Pitts.
Pitts brings a new dimension to this Jaguars offense, as they already have some talented wide receivers in D.J. Chark and Laviska Shenault Jr. to name a few. Pitts opens up the middle of the defense better than any other tight end coming out, and that will do wonders for Minshew’s development under center.
With their second first round pick of the 2021 NFL Draft, the Miami Dolphins should switch their focus to the other side of the ball after adding a wideout early. The Dolphins defense brought in some quality veterans this offseason, but I still like them to add one of the best linebackers in this draft class at pick No. 15.
Dylan Moses from Alabama is the kind of middle linebacker you can build your defense around, and Miami is building up a solid, young roster. Head coach Brian Flores is a terrific defensive mind, and in Moses, he gets a linebacker that is smart enough to run his defense, and talented enough to start right away.
