College football DFS running back picks October 1:

Top Tier:

Kenneth Walker is going to be in for a huge game here. Wake shouldn’t get themselves into a position where they had to abandon the run like they did against Clemson. Walker showcased his talents in spades against the Wolfpack in week 3. Expect that to be on full display again.

Lopini Katoa is still the BYU back to own. He gets most of the carries. Wilson poaching a couple of touchdowns hurt his bottom line last week, but Tyler Allgeier isn’t going to outscore him. He likely wont come close unless this is a blowout. I don’t see that happening, so roll with Katoa or look elsewhere.

Middle Tier:

Louisiana Tech still uses at least three running backs, but Justin Henderson is still the best of the lot. The problem is that he has only scored once in two games and has only 29 carries. Against a tougher run defense like BYU, it may be prudent to take a shot at this with a cheaper Bulldogs option.

Bargain Shoppers:

Both Bryant Barr and C.J. Freeman have split what’s left of Campbell’s carries about right down the middle. Freeman has done more with the carries, but Barr has caught a few more passes. Both will see action against Wake and both struggled to get loose against Appalachian State. It is worth noting that Barr didn’t catch a pass against the Mountaineers if that sways you one way or the other.

Both Greg Garner and Israel Tucker get about the same amount of carries behind Henderson. Garner seems to be the pass catching back though, so he has more upside against BYU for taking a flier in GPP formats.
