1. Adam Gase

The Jets didn’t exactly win the press conference when they hired Gase. Nothing he’s done since that day has done anything more to inspire confidence in his ability to lead the Jets into a new era of success.

The idea of Gase was that he could help develop Sam Darnold into a quality starting quarterback. Instead, he’s plunged the team’s young signal-caller into a depth of despair. It now seems likely that New York will move on from Darnold in the offseason rather than offering him a solid contract to remain with the franchise that spent a high draft pick on him.

Gase’s inability to develop Darnold is enough reason for the Jets to fire him. His utter inability to build up any other aspect of the roster only confirms his incompetence. Every day the Jets allow him to remain in the building is a missed opportunity to get the beleaguered franchise back on track.

The harsh truth that no other fan base in the NFL would willingly trade coaches with the Jets shows just how awful he’s been during his time in charge. The day he gets the axe will be met with a sincere celebration in New York. He is the league’s worst head coach by a wide margin.
