Chicago White Sox rookie phenom Luis Robert hit a home run to the moon in Game 3 vs. the Oakland Athletics.

Luis Robert got the White Sox started with a bang after hitting a 487-foot home run off Oakland A’s starter Mike Fiers. The ball was hit so hard that it is now orbiting the moon. Astronauts will marvel at the ball the next time NASA sends a mission to outer space and the Space Force will attempt to retrieve the ball so the Sox rookie has a keepsake of his proverbial moonshot.

The rookie five-tool outfielder struggled toward the end of the shortened regular season, which is not uncommon for a first-year player getting acclimated to the league. However, his talent was on full display with this absolute bomb.

Since Statcast began tracking home runs in 2015, only the Chicago Cubs Willson Contreras has hit a longer home run than the 487-foot blast by Robert.

Fellow Sox rookie Dane Dunning got the start in the decisive Game 3 but was pulled after only getting two outs and leaving two men out. However, rookie reliever Garrett Crochet got Matt Olson to strike out on a filthy off-speed pitch to end the threat.

Then, Robert came to the dish and hit a ball that still hasn’t landed yet.

The Sox have chased Fiers from the game so it’s a battle of the bullpens to see who’ll advance to the ALDS at this point.
