Surefire Starters at Wide Receiver

  • Calvin Ridley, Atlanta Falcons wide receiver, has been simply the most productive pass receiver in the NFL in the first three weeks of the season.  He has been targeted 33 times, caught 21 passes for 349 yards and 4 touchdowns.  RIdley is listed as “questionable” for Monday night’s game against Green Bay, but he may still be able to play after the weekend depending on whether he could participate in Friday’s practice.
  • Tyler Lockett, Seattle Seahawks wide receiver, caught 3 touchdown passes against Dallas in week 3.  Lockett should be prepared for another big weekend as he and Seattle face a porous Miami Dolphins secondary Sunday afternoon.
  • Stefon Diggs, Buffalo Bills wide receiver, almost had 3 touchdowns against the Rams in week 3, but the first was reversed by the replay official and the second was cancelled due to a BIlls penalty.  Diggs caught his only official TD pass in the 3rd quarter.  He has 20 catches for 288 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Riding the Bench

  • JuJu Smith-Schuster, Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver, won’t be playing this weekend due to  COVID-19.  The game with Tennessee  has been postponed.
  • Corey Davis, Tennessee Titans wide receiver, won’t be playing this weekend due to  COVID-19.  The game with Pittsburgh has been postponed.

Underrated

  • Allen Lazard, Green Bay Packers wide receiver, is out due to core muscle surgery this week.  The loss of Lazard, who had been the Packers No. 1 pass catcher while Davante Adams recovers from a hamstring injury, will be apparent in next Monday’s game against Atlanta.

Overrated

  • Emmanuel Sanders, New Orleans Saints wide receiver, has been used sparingly as a target by quarterback Drew Brees. Running back Alvin Kamara has filled the void left by injured teammate Michael Thomas.  Maybe Brees will test the Lions secondary Sunday with some long throw to Sanders.

Sleeper WR of the Week

  • Robert Woods, Los Angeles Rams wide receiver,  accumulated more than 100 yards receiving in week 1 sm in Week 1 and cran for a touchdown in week 2.  In week 3, he managed to catch a touchdown pass and post 104 total yards of offense.  Except the Rams to continue utilizing Woods’ ability to run and catch the football.
