Chiefs vs. Patriots reportedly scheduled for Monday night
The Kansas City Chiefs vs. New England Patriots showdown will now be played on Monday after Sunday’s original date was pushed back.
For fans of the Kansas City Chiefs and New England Patriots who were bummed to see the news their Week 4 showdown would be postponed, it doesn’t look like you’ll have to wait long to see the two powerhouses go at it.
Per multiple reports, the game that was originally scheduled for Sunday will be moved to Monday night. The news of the game being postponed broke shortly after it was revealed superstar quarterback Cam Newton had tested positive for the coronavirus.
Fans won’t have to wait long to see the Kansas City Chiefs and New England Patriots go to battle
Newton testing positive for COVID-19 sent a shockwave through the NFL world, as he’s undoubtedly the biggest name to catch the virus thus far. At the same time, concerns for other plays on the Patriots certainly skyrocketed. That’s because Newton had been close to teammates throughout the week during practices and team meetings.
Fortunately for New England, though, no other players have tested positive for the coronavirus. In addition, no Kansas City players tested positive either, which opened the door for the teams’ Week 4 contest to be played on Monday.
When they do square off, Mahomes and the Chiefs will look to improve to a perfect 4-0 on the season. Thus far this campaign, Mahomes has been brilliant, throwing for 898 yards and nine touchdowns. In last week’s convincing victory over the Ravens, he threw for 385 yards and four scores, while also adding a rushing touchdown.
For the Patriots, they’re 2-1 on the year. With Newton ruled out for Week 4, though, things will surely be made even harder in trying to take down the mighty Chiefs. Brian Hoyer is all set to lead the offense come Monday.
