Bill Belichick isn’t taking any chances with his mask situation.

The NFL has seen several coronavirus outbreaks over the past few weeks, and with New England Patriots quarterback Cam Newton testing positive and the team’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs being delayed until Monday, head coach Bill Belichick isn’t taking any chances.

Whether it’s his own passive-aggressive way of showing his disdain for coaches having to wear masks on the sidelines during games, an extra and entirely unnecessary precaution against COVID-19, or yet another masterful troll job from the master of style, Belichick’s double-mask situation sparks joy no matter what.

More than likely, he’s just trolling us with the second mask after several coaches were fined for not wearing their masks properly, but give the man his due. This is pretty damn funny:

Bill Belichick can’t possibly be fined for his mask usage this time, right?

The Patriots guru had already been roasted for improperly wearing his mask a few weeks back, so with the recent surge in cases in the NFL and the league coming down hard on coaches not wearing their masks correctly, it’s no surprise he might be taking this issue a little more seriously.

Then again, just because he’s taking it seriously doesn’t mean he won’t hesitate to crack a joke at the expense of the situation the NFL finds itself in. Wearing masks is necessary for the general public, but adding a second one on top is a nice little way of having some fun while still following protocol — just as long as he actually knows a second mask is absolutely unnecessary.

Now we’ll just have to see if Belichick can keep at least one of those masks on properly throughout New England’s Monday night tilt with Pat Mahomes and the reigning Super Bowl champs. At the very least, he just doubled his odds of making it through this game without a fine.
