Julian Edelman let this ball hit off his hands and right into Tyrann Mathieu’s to lose the game.

This is not how you win football games, as Julian Edelman “lost” it for the New England Patriots.

We all knew it was over anyway because you can’t start Brian Hoyer and then replace him with Jarrett Stidham because Hoyer forgot that he didn’t have a timeout and got sacked before halftime. When you’re going up against Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs, you can’t let defensive players like Tyrann Mathieu score defensive touchdowns against you like this.

It didn’t end it, but there was no way New England would come back from this.

This is what football is like when you no longer have the GOAT quarterbacking your team. At 43 years young, Tom Brady is having the time of his life in his NFL golden years, possibly quarterbacking the previously rudderless Tampa Bay Buccaneers to the NFC playoffs for the first time since his tore his ACL in Week 1 back in 2008 vs. the Chiefs. He’s having fun without you.

Now saddled with their second loss of the season, the Patriots are two games back of the Buffalo Bills for first place in the AFC East standings. Buffalo is arguably the second-best team in the AFC after the Chiefs. Quarterback Josh Allen is playing at a Pro Bowl-level. Buffalo may win its division for the first time since Jim Kelly was the quarterback and Marv Levy was the coach.

New England may be a playoff team, but the Patriots don’t belong in the upper crust in the AFC.
