J.R. Smith made a bold fashion statement before Game 4.

LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers needed to patch together a squad for the NBA bubble after Avery Bradley opted out of the season, and they filled that hole by signing old LeBron running mate J.R. Smith. Even though Smith is rarely on the floor, that hasn’t stopped him from trying to make his presence known. Before Game 4 of the NBA Finals against the Miami Heat, J.R. tried to steal headlines by supporting an unusual business on the front of his shirt.

Smith showed up to Game 4 wearing a “Viola” shirt. The company might not be on everyone’s radar right now, but it’s actually a cannabis company started by former NBA player Al Harrington, who Smith played with during his days with the Denver Nuggets.

J.R. Smith is trying to do whatever he can to bring the Lakers a title in his own unique style

Smith has received very limited playing time this year, as he sat out most of the regular season following his exit from the rebuilding Cleveland Cavaliers. Despite his famous blunder in the 2018 Finals, Smith has clearly earned the trust of LeBron and the Lakers’ front office.

The few times he has gotten on the court, like his cameo near the end of the first half of Game 3, have usually ended with some trademark J.R. foolishness, including a weird, haphazard shot near the end of the first half that looks exactly like prime J.R. who would shoot the ball from anywhere on the court, no matter the situation.

Smith might not see the court in this series, but he’s making sure no one forgets he’s on this Lakers squad.
