5 potential quarterbacks of the future for the Washington football team
4. Justin Fields
Not having the No. 1 pick would not keep Washington from drafting a top quarterback prospect next April. Some draft analysts are just as high on Fields as they are on Lawrence, and with the Big Ten now set to play a fall season Fields will get a chance to show his stuff in games for Ohio State again.
After transferring from Georgia, Fields was fantastic for the Buckeyes last year (3,273 passing yards, 67.2 percent completion rate, 41 TD, three interceptions, 484 rushing yards and 10 rushing scores) on his way to finishing third in the Heisman voting. In our own latest 2021 mock draft, Fields lands at No. 2 overall to the Atlanta Falcons as Matt Ryan’s successor
If they fall outside the top-5, Fields may be off the board by the time Washington goes on the clock the first time next April. But they will surely be among the teams to evaluate him heavily over the next several months now, in a matter of simple due diligence.
If Fields falls a bit (through no fault to his own?), perhaps as another prospect on this list rises, Washington will be tempted to grab him if they’re in the 5-to-10 range.
