WWE NXT: Ember Moon and Rhea Ripley win in the main event
Ember Moon and Rhea Ripley defeated Dakota Kai and Raquel Gonzalez in a women’s tag team match in the main event of NXT.
NXT TakeOver 31 occurred on Sunday and there is a lot to talk about after the PPV. Toni Storm and Ember Moon returned, Finn Balor kept his title even though he suffered a broken jaw, and Ridge Holland presented a lifeless Adam Cole to the Undisputed Era. All those angles were continued in Wednesday’s edition of NXT.
Kushida and Tommaso Ciampa got into an altercation before the show starting, leading to a singles match to open the show. This was as hard-hitting a match expected, with both men being very aggressive from the start.

The first few flurries were back and forth until Ciampa landed a dropkick to Kushida mid hand-spring off the ropes. Ciampa remained in control for an extended period, battering Kushida with strikes and submissions. He was able to knock Ciampa off the apron, eventually getting control back in his favor. Ciampa would not stay down though, going back to Kushida’s neck. Kushida regained the momentum, going back to Ciampa’s arm with kicks, an armbar and attempted triangle choke.
Just when it looked like Kushida was headed for the victory, Velveteen Dream interrupted, accidentally hitting Ciampa, giving him the disqualification victory.
Ever-Rise came out next in tag action against the apparent “team” in Drake Maverick and Killian Dain. Maverick started off the match for his team, but it did not seem like Dain was interested in tagging in to help his teammate. Dain eventually got the tag and started decimating the opponents. Maverick would upset Dain and the match ended with Dain using him as a weapon against one of the members of Ever-Rise. Maverick’s near lifeless body made the pin, giving them the victory.
Austin Theory and Leon Ruff were out next for a one-on-one match. Ruff got off to a hot start but once Theory got his hands-on Ruff things went to a screeching halt. Theory caught Ruff in the corner and planted him in the middle of the ring to get the victory.
Theory’s night was not over though. He kept talking until Dexter Lumis came out to the ring and Theory accepted the immediate match. Lumis looked like he was on his way to a one-sided victory, but Theory took over after they scuffled outside the ring. Lumis kept trying to answer back but Theory was ahead of his opponent, keeping him grounded and trying pin attempts. Lumis looked like he was fading in the match, but he landed a sidewalk slam right into the Head and Arm Triangle choke to get the win.
Ridge Holland was on site and had an interesting message for the Undisputed Era before his match about his attack on Adam Cole. Danny Burch came out as his opponent and that did not work out well for Burch.
These two guys did not pull any punches, clubbing each other right from the start of the match. Burch laid out Holland twice but was unable to pin the big man for the win. Holland dropped Burch on the back of his head and pinned him to get the victory.
Shotzi Blackheart and Xia Li met in a singles match. Li used a combination of martial arts strikes to rattle Blackheart, bouncing her from corner to corner. Li had the momentum in her favor until she made the mistake of going to the top rope. Blackheart pushed her off and landed her Senton Splash to earn the win.

Ember Moon and Rhea Ripley were put in a sudden team to battle against Dakota Kai and Raquel Gonzalez in the main event. Moon started off against Dakota first and was able to handle her easily. When Gonzalez came in Moon did more of the same but eventually fell to Gonzalez’s strength. Gonzalez used her power to overwhelm Ripley when they fought outside the ring. Kai and Gonzalez were in control for much of the match until Moon got back in the match and started to run over both women. Kai and Gonzalez would not go away, finding ways to stay in the match. While Ripley and Gonzalez fought on the outside, Moon hit the Eclipse on Kai to get the win for her team.
