College football DFS running back picks October 10:

Top Tier:

Breece Hall could be in for a monster against Texas Tech. All of that damage Texas did on the ground with two backs and Ehlinger? Yeah, Iowa State will do that all with Hall. He’s by far the best running back on the slate.

Deuce Vaughn is an intriguing play against TCU especially if Thompson is out. Vaughn’s value lies more in receptions, but he gets a healthy dose of carries out of the backfield as well. There’s a chance that TCU shuts him down, but there’s an equally good chance that he goes nuts on them.

SaRodorick Thompson is still a strong play for Texas Tech, but the fact that he split carries last week makes him less of a priority against Iowa State. No one can keep Javonte Williams out of the end zone, so I’d side with him over Thompson even against the Hokie defense.

Middle Tier:

I like Swiss-Army-knife types at running back. Kadarius Toney started as a WR but is Florida’s leading rusher. He’ll see plenty of action in this offense.

Vanderbilt is weaker against the pass, but Kevin Harris has a nose for the end zone. He is a tough runner that was big against Florida and instrumental in keeping the Gamecocks in that game. He’s likely in for another big game here.

The Orange have been desperate for someone to step up in the backfield after Abdul Adams opted out. Freshman Sean Tucker could be that guy. He ran for 112 yards against Georgia Tech and could be in for a field day against Duke.

Bargain Shoppers:

Xavier White showed more wiggle than SaRodorick Thompson and is likely a better receiver out of the backfield. He’s not going to take Thompson’s job, but White could get enough work to pay off this price tag. This is a big risk though. I’d like to see him do it for more than one game before I jump on.

I’m sure that one or two running backs will have a good game in the Red River Shootout. Good luck deciding which one. Roschon Johnson probably has the highest ceiling of the four. Keaontay Ingram is the solid bet. Oklahoma’s backs? Who the hell knows? Neither have played well, but Seth McGowan has looked markedly better than Pledger though neither one has looked good.

The sleeper in the Red River Shootout is a product of oversight on DraftKings part. Austin Stogner plays tight end and has ten receptions over the last two games, yet he’s listed as a running back and is super cheap. I’ll have plenty of exposure here.
