Surprises and demises at the NFL quarter pole
Surprise: Buffalo Bills’ QB Josh Allen
It’s only four games into the season and the third year has been pretty charming for Buffalo Bills’ quarterback Josh Allen. He’s been stellar as a passer this season and Sean McDermott’s team suddenly has a two-game lead in the AFC East. In fact, the 4-0 Bills have more wins than the Patriots, Dolphins and Jets (3) combined, That’s the kind of stat we’re used to seeing when it comes the New England when it comes to the rest of the division. As for Allen, he’s connected on 70.9 percent of his throws for 1,326 yards, 12 touchdowns and only one interception. He’s also turn for three scores. A year ago in 15 games, he hit on only 59.8 percent of his passes and threw for 20 scores.
Demise: Dallas Cowboys
These Cowboys seem lost as to what kind of club they want to be in 2020. Mike McCarthy was hired this offseason and the expectation was that the club would have a certain Super Bowl swagger to it. But defensive coordinator Mike Nolan has not gotten the job done, hence this club ranks 30th in the league in total defense, has allowed the second-most rushing yards per game in the league and has already allowed a NFL-high 146 points. While Dak Prescott has piled up all kinds of numbers, how can a team with Ezekiel Elliott be tied for 23rd in the league in rushing? But keep in mind the Cowboys are also in a division led by an Eagles’ team with a 1-2-1 record.
