2. Officials miss obvious hold on the Cowboys

In the fourth quarter of their nail-biter against the Dallas Cowboys, the Giants had merely one expectation of the officiating crew — do your job. Evidently they couldn’t handle that.

This isn’t rocket science. The Cowboys offensive line isn’t what it once was, with players such as Kadeem Edwards filling in for All Pro-caliber linemen. Edwards had a hold of a Giants defensive lineman’s jersey and did not let go in time. There was no sell job here, and Edwards did his best to let go of the jersey before anyone noticed, but instant replay sees all.

A missed call in that scenario is not an inside job, despite the insistence by Big Blue faithful that officiating always favors Dallas. Dak Prescott went down with a season-ending ankle injury, and a Cowboys victory is a great story. That’s why this missed call isn’t making headlines, despite the fact that it quite literally cost the still-winless Giants a game.
