Portugal and Juventus superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, arguably the best player in the world, has tested positive for the coronavirus.

Earth-shattering news has arrived on Cristiano Ronaldo out of his native Portugal, and it’s unfortunately not good whatsoever. While on international duty in the Nations League, it’s been confirmed that Ronaldo has tested positive for the coronavirus.

Ronaldo and Portugal just faced off against France on Sunday night, drawing with the reigning World Cup Champions 0-0. Portugal is set to take on Sweden on Wednesday night, but Ronaldo most certainly won’t be able to suit up following his positive test result.

Cristiano has become the biggest name in sports to test positive for the Coronavirus

Portugal announced the news in a team statement. Following his positive result, Ronaldo has left the squad and he will now isolate. This latest Ronaldo update doesn’t just have big implications for Portugal, but Juventus is surely worried about its player as well.

Later this month, Juventus is set to face Barcelona in a Champions League matchup, with fans across the world dreaming of seeing Ronaldo and Lionel Messi face off. It’s got drama written all over it.

However, right now, the focus is 100 percent on Ronaldo returning to full health and not putting any of his teammates at risk. Fortunately for Ronaldo, the Portuguese Football Federation also announced that the forward is feeling fine right now and is doing well without any symptoms. He’s isolating and has no plans to return to his national team.

Following the matchup with Sweden, Portugal won’t have another Nations League game until a Nov. 14 date with France. That game will be followed by a Nov. 17 showdown with Croatia. Fans everywhere will hope Ronaldo will be cleared to play for those two games, plus the monster tilt against Messi and Barcelona.
