Jason Sanders – Miami Dolphins

Kicker talk? Yeah you got that right. We’re ending this week’s list with a look at the position fantasy owners probably think the least about.

Why? Because the performance of Dolphins kicker Jason Sanders in their remarkable rout of the 49ers merits being celebrated.

Sanders was flawless in the 43-17 win at Levi’s Stadium, accounting for 15 of the Dolphins’ points as he nailed all five of his field goal attempts. In addition, he converted on all four of his extra points in a spectacular offensive showing from Miami.

He was successful with efforts of 26, 50, 29, 31 and 49 yards. In fantasy, Sanders finished with 22 points, putting him 12th among all scorers in standard-scoring leagues.

It was no anomaly from Sanders – drafted in the seventh round by the Dolphins back in 2018. Indeed, his five field-goal display was his second in as many weeks, with this showcase of kicking accuracy coming just seven days on from another in the Week 4 loss to the Seattle Seahawks.

And there is reason to expect him to continue to thrive in 2020. The Dolphins, even with Sunday’s blowout, are 21st in the league in converting red zone opportunities into touchdowns, per Pro Football Reference.

The likelihood is that they continue to struggle in that department and provide Sanders with more chances to prove himself as one of the NFL’s top kickers. It’s rare that much thought is given to kickers in fantasy football, but investing in Sanders – owned in just three percent of ESPN and Yahoo leagues – would be a shrewd move.
