2021 NFL Mock Draft: Falcons replace Matt Ryan
By Brad Weiss
The Chicago Bears sit at 4-1, have already made a quarterback change, and have looked very vanilla on offense. Still, 4-1 is 4-1, and in the NFL, it is all about stacking wins, no matter how ugly you can look sometimes doing it.
As it stands, they would be picking fairly late in the first round, but they still could fill a major void by bringing in an elite interior offensive lineman. During his time at Tennessee, Trey Smith has established himself as one of the more versatile offensive linemen in college football, and the Bears certainly need help up front.
The Baltimore Ravens are once again one of the better teams in the AFC, and they are fresh off a blowout victory against division rival Cincinnati. Of course, they are still looking up at the undefeated Pittsburgh Steelers, but they will get their chance to take them on twice the rest of the way.
In the secondary, the Ravens may want to bring in a safety via the 2021 NFL Draft, as they parted ways with Earl Thomas a few weeks back. Andre Cisco is a playmaking safety for the Syracuse Orange, and in terms of first round status, he and Jevon Holland are the only safeties I would put in that category right now.
Thanks to the trade they made with the Los Angeles Rams during the 2019 NFL season, the Jacksonville Jaguars hold two first round picks next April. After adding a dominant wideout early, they get Gardner Minshew another weapon for the passing game late in round one, bringing in Pat Freiermuth.
In terms of this draft class, only Freiermuth and Kyle Pitts should go in the first round, so getting him this late in round one would be considered a win. The Jaguars are building up their roster with talented, young players, and Freiermuth gives their young quarterback another solid weapon in the passing game.
The Tennessee Titans finally have gone enough days without a COVID positive that they can actually play football, which they did on Tuesday against the Buffalo Bills. After getting to the AFC title game last season, the Titans are right back in the mix again this year, and could be picking late in round one next April.
With that pick, they should focus on their defensive line, and Jay Tufele from USC is a very versatile guy who can play inside or out. The Titans have some solid edge rushers, and decent talent in the secondary, so getting better in the middle of their defensive line is a priority heading into next season.
