Central. 4. player. 128. Scouting Report. AL. Chicago White Sox. Pick Analysis

The White Sox took a significant step in 2020, reaching the postseason for the first time since 2008. The parted ways with manager Rick Renteria in a clear push toward reaching greater heights next year, with Tony La Russa being advanced as a candidate to step in despite not managing since 2011. If the 76-year old La Russa, who started his managerial career as the White Sox skipper from 1979 through midway through the 1986 season, is hired the Pale Hose won’t be able to hide being in win-now mode.

The idea of Bauer joining a starting rotation with Lucas Giolito, Dallas Keuchel and promising youngster Dylan Cease should appeal to the White Sox. They have some money coming off the books too (roughly $30 million, as Edwin Encarnacion, James McCann, Alex Colome and Jarrod Dyson become free agents, with a club option on Encarnacion that seems sure to be declined). So cost should not be a huge factor.

The White Sox showed they were ready and willing to come and take the AL Central from the Indians and Twins with some significant moves last offseason. With some calculated, aggressive moves this offseason, along the lines of signing someone like Bauer, they might complete the quest to win the division in 2021.
