Surefire Starters at Wide Receiver

  • DeAndre Hopkins, Arizona Cardinals wide receiver, leads all pass catchers with 45 receptions for 528 yards and 2 touchdowns.  He is targeted at least 10 times per game and averages 22 FFP per game.
  • Adam Thielen, Minnesota Vikings wide receiver, is 5 points behind Hopkins in fantasy football scoring.  Thielen and Tampa Bay’s Mike Evans share the top spot in touchdown catches with 6.
  • Calvin Ridley, Atlanta Falcons wide receiver, has been targeted 50 times, caught 29 passes for 485 yards and 4 touchdowns.

Note:  These wide receivers have week 6 ”Byes”.

Underrated

  • A.J. Brown, Tennessee Titans wide receiver, scored 21 FFP, caught 7 passes for 82 yards and one touchdown.   Brown is a playmaker who seems to be healthy after missing two games.

Overrated

  • Mecole Hardman, Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver, should have a bigger role in the KC offense, but he’s been targeted 17 times in 5 games.  He may get the ball more in the coming weeks as Sammy Watkins has been slowed by an injury.

Sleeper WR of the Week

  • Chase Claypool, Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver, shredded the Philadelphia secondary with 3 touchdown catches.  His 42.6 FFP led all fantasy scorers in week 5.   The Steelers will need another 100+ yards receiving from Claypool if they hope to beat division-rival Cleveland on Sunday.
