3 quarterbacks the Vikings should replace Kirk Cousins with

The Jets gave up three second-round picks and the first-round pick that eventually was used to select All-Pro guard Quenton Nelson for the right to select Darnold in 2018.
The Jets had so much hinging on Darnold becoming a star, and Adam Gase’s lackluster offense has the Jets on the verge of rebuilding as Darnold continues to regress with every game. Even though Darnold looks like a college kid that is overwhelmed right now, the Vikings could take a chance on him knowing the history with offensive players who leave Gase.
Darnold looks like a turnover machine right now, partially because Gase refuses to coach those bad habits out of him, but the arm strength is still there, as is his ability to throw on the run and make plays when the structure of the play breaks down.
If there are three quarterbacking traits that Darnold is lacking right now, it’s those three. While Darnold is struggling right now, getting him on a team with more structure and an actually successful offensive coach could reverse his fortune.
The Jets will need to get over the mental roadblock of trading their franchise quarterback after failing to give help at the offensive line, out at wide receiver, and on the coaching staff despite being given multiple opportunities, but both franchises might end up in a better place long-term if they’re able to get this deal done. Darnold won’t have to run for his life on every play in Minnesota.
