1. Replay review is useless…sometimes

The call on the field can be a killer, as the New York Giants found out on Sunday. New York has been on the receiving end of some of the worst calls of the season, though it hasn’t had too dramatic of an effect on their win-loss record. The Giants are bad, and bad things happen to teams that are bad. That is not an oversimplification on my part, despite using the same word three times in a sentence.

I’m sorry, Joe Judge. Your complaints will continue to fall upon deaf ears until Daniel Jones matures into the star quarterback Dave Gettleman perhaps falsely believes him to be. That’s how every professional sports league works. Although, this hypothesis makes little to no sense when the Washington Football Team is on the other end, receiving good news for some reason.

The Giants were able to overcome this monstrosity and get a win. However, Fuller’s elbow was out of bounds on the play. Was there a replay angle showing that? Evidently not, which is why the referees were forced to go with the call on the field — the WRONG call on the field. There really is no way to fix this flawed system, is there?

Recap: This isn’t to take anything away from NFL fans unhappy with any of the calls above, but in comparison to some of the other summaries I’ve written, this one feels a little lite. NFL referees aren’t getting better, but week-over-week there ought to be some improvement. I’d grade Week 6 out as a B+, but that could always change. This teacher is easily swayed.
