17. Vic Beasley takes a pay cut to stay in Tennessee

Edge rushers are going to face another tight free agent market this offseason. There are a handful of really productive players available who have a strong chance to change teams. That will leave an inconsistent player like Beasley scrounging to find a quality deal.

Beasley didn’t get the multi-year contract he was looking for this offseason, but securing a one-year, $9.5 million deal from the Titans was a good consolation prize. Unfortunately for the athletic pass rusher, he won’t do that well in the future.

It’s possible that Tennessee will just want to wash their hands of Beasley completely due to his inconsistent work ethic, but the Titans are an organization that is generally willing to get on talent. That means they’ll be willing to bring Beasley back if the price is right.

If Beasley wants a multi-year contract he’s going to have to be willing to take a major salary cut. The more likely outcome is for him to go with another one-year contract in an effort to raise his value. He still won’t get the $9.5 million he earned in 2020 again in 2021. He’s going to take a multimillion-dollar hair cut when all is said and done.
