15. Von Miller gets a one-year deal with the Colts

Miller’s freak ankle injury came at a really bad time for his future earnings. He’s now slated to hit free agency with serious questions about what he can provide a team in 2021.

In retrospect, the injury may have effectively ended Miller’s time in Denver. The Brons are clearly trying to initiate a youth movement of sorts. Miller has been a great player for the franchise, but they can’t afford to pay him big money if he can’t provide that level of production.

The Colts, however, are a franchise that has the capability to take that kind of big swing. They’ll sign Miller to a one-year contract that gives him a chance to rebuild his value for a Super Bowl contender before hitting free agency again.

Think of Indianapolis signing Miller as a better version of their gamble on Philip Rivers this season. The Colts won’t need to pay upwards of $25 million to sign Miller due to his health status, but they can afford to give him a healthy salary due to their salary cap situation. If he’s healthy, Miller could give Indianapolis the best defense in football in 2021.
