Former Olympian softball star Jennie Finch is a die-hard Dodgers fan and is hopeful Los Angeles can take down the Rays in the World Series.

The celebrations in Los Angeles, socially distanced of course, haven’t stopped after the Lakers took down the Miami Heat in the NBA Finals earlier this month. Everyone in California is still fired up, with even more happiness potentially on the way.

After a thrilling Game 7 win in the NLCS over the Atlanta Braves, the Los Angeles Dodgers are back in the World Series, looking to win their first title since 1988. That same year, the Lakers also took home an NBA finals ‘ship.

If you ask former Olympian softball pitcher Jennie Finch, who is currently in Louisiana, she’s praying to the Baseball Gods to let her Dodgers win the World Series as well.

Jennie Finch has been doing everything possible to follow the Dodgers during tough times in Louisiana

Finch spoke with FanSided earlier this week from her home in Louisiana. Due to Hurricane Laura and Hurricane Delta, she admitted it’s been extremely difficult to follow her favorite baseball team, but that nothing will stop her from showing love to the club no matter the circumstances.

“Oh my gosh, I hope,” Finch said when asked if this is the Dodgers’ year. “You know and the Lakers winning it — 1988, bring it back. That would be completely awesome. Unfortunately due to the hurricanes back to back with Laura and Delta, we have no internet, no cable, so it’s been torture and everything’s closed. We haven’t been able to watch the games. I’ve been going on live feeds and Twitter. I’ve got to get something fixed for the World Series at least.”

Finch shared that her family went without electricity for about a month due to Hurricane Laura, but things are slowly but surely starting to get back on track. A Dodgers win in the World Series would most certainly bring a smile to her face. And even if she can’t watch them live on TV to start off the series, you better believe she’ll be with them in spirit.

Jennie Finch spoke on behalf of The Scotts® Field Refurbishment Program which awards modern, playable youth baseball and softball field refurbishments to local communities each year.
