Kyle Long continues to taunt Bears on Twitter over offensive line play

Kyle Long took a shot at the Bears’ offensive line
The Chicago Bears have been a pleasant surprise in an unusual 2020 season, as a team led by Nick Foles and David Montgomery on offense is currently 5-1 and in first place in the NFC North. Even with that success, the interior offensive line hasn’t been what Chicago hoped, and former Bears guard Kyle Long is rubbing his hands together in glee seeing them struggle without him.
Long seemed to think that a man of his talents is exactly what the Bears need right now, stirring the pot by tweeting out “It’s like a guard might help” in what seems like a shot at Matt Nagy.
Injuries sapped Kyle Long’s effectiveness during his Bears career
Long made a Pro Bowl in each of his first three seasons as a Bear, but injuries prevented him from returning to that level again. From 2016 to 2019, Long only had one season in which he played more than eight games. He retired at the end of the 2019 season, but it seems like he is either still pining for a place on Chicago’s offensive line or taking shots at his replacements.
An injury to James Daniels has forced the likes of Charles Leno, Alex Bars and former failed Seattle Seahawks first-rounder Germain Ifedi to end up as starters, and their inability to hold up in pass protection for an immobile quarterback in Foles could come back to bite them when they face some truly elite interior pass rushers.
Through no fault of his own, Long’s pro career didn’t end on the best of terms. While a player of Long’s caliber would be a perfect fix for what the Bears need right now, Nagy probably isn’t going to pick him off of the TV circuit and plug him in to fix that hole.
