Julio Jones – Atlanta Falcons

Jones ended his touchdown drought in impressive fashion as the Falcons finally got their first win of the season. He was crucial to Atlanta easing to a 40-23 blowout victory over the Minnesota Vikings in the first game under interim head coach Raheem Morris.

Ryan targeted him 10 times and Jones hauled in eight receptions for 137 yards and two touchdowns.

Justin Jefferson (39.6) of the Vikings was the sole wideout to put up more PPR points than the 33.7 Jones earned for his stellar play, and fantasy managers frustrated by his prior production this season will hope it is a sign of things to come.

Jones had been targeted just four times in each of his last two games, so his share against the Vikings is encouraging given Calvin Ridley, Russell Gage and Hayden Hurst were all featured parts of the passing attack.

As was the case last year, the Falcons are staring at a long stretch of the season where they will be predominantly playing for pride and, much like the Texans, will be anticipated to be playing from behind in much of those games.

Ryan and Jones have plenty of pride and their long-established rapport will be critical to the Falcons staying competitive in Atlanta’s remaining 10 games. It may have been tempting to fantasy owners to try to deal Jones after his underwhelming start but, following his standout showing in Minnesota, there is plenty to suggest he can still be trusted as a difference-making receiver who can decide matchups.
