Fantasy Stars & Studs, Week 6: Derrick Henry dominates
Trey Burton – Indianapolis Colts
Burton was a low-key free agent acquisition by the Colts but the tight end had a massive influence on Indianapolis’ comeback from 21-0 down against the Bengals on Sunday.
The former Philadelphia Eagles and Chicago Bears tight end caught four of his five targets in the 31-27 victory for 58 yards and a touchdown. He also ran for another score, finishing the game with 21.9 points in PPR leagues. Anthony Firkser (25.3) and George Kittle (23.9) were the two tight ends to outscore him.
Burton playing an important role in Frank Reich’s offense is no surprise given their familiarity from days spent together on the Philadelphia Eagles’ Super Bowl-winning team. However, it is difficult to project what Burton’s role will be going forward given the competition for targets at the tight end position in Indianapolis.
Mo-Alie Cox missed the Week 6 win because of a knee injury but has impressed this season with 11 catches for 194 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Jack Doyle caught three passes for 29 yards and a touchdown against the Bengals.
It is Burton, though, who has been Philip Rivers’ favored target at tight end over the last two games. While he may not have done enough yet to be trusted as a fantasy starter, the situation of a player who is owned in just 20 percent of Yahoo leagues and five percent of ESPN leagues is worthy of being monitored by fantasy managers with a tight end bye week on the horizon.
