College football DFS quarterback picks October 24:

Top Tier:

Sam Ehlinger is the highest scoring QB by a large margin, but I don’t think he’s a must-play on this slate. Hendon Hooker went nuts in his first start, racking up 164 rushing yards. Wake’s run defense is similarly bad, so Hooker could be in for another monster day on the ground. He puts up running back stats and still gets solid passing numbers. Hooker is one of my top overall plays regardless of price.

How long will the Tide leave Mac Jones in there? Tennessee’s defense hasn’t really been the problem. They still played well against both Kentucky and Auburn. The offense is the problem. I see Jones as a strong option, but Spencer Rattler has good potential against TCU.

I’m more after Matt Corral though. Yes, the guy that threw six picks last week. That’s part of the reason why I want to play him. Recency bias will have ownership low. Auburn’s defense has given up 27 or more points in three straight. This offense can score. Just ask Nick Saban.

Middle Tier:

The NC State pass defense has been the problem, so if Sam Howell is going to shake off the slow start, it should be here. Howell put up really good numbers in the comeback that fell just short against Florida State. The game plan hasn’t translated to success for Howell. Maybe NC State’s poor numbers in pass defense will get Carolina to throw more.

Charlie Brewer has put up pedestrian numbers so far, but he could break out against Texas. The Longhorn defense has been bad. Like the kind of bad that will get coaches fired if something doesn’t change. Maybe they step up, but Brewer is worth a look at this price.

The Ole Miss defense is practically non-existent. Their offense puts a lot of pressure on them either by quick drives or turnovers. This is a smash spot for Bo Nix. Can he capitalize?

Max Duggan is a solid player, but he’s going to look like a star against the Oklahoma defense. Yes, they played fairly well against Texas, but that’s by their standards. By any other standards, this is still a below average unit that always struggles with running quarterbacks. Duggan could be in for a huge day at a very low price.

Bargain Shoppers:

There has been no official announcement on Jordan Travis and his shoulder. The word around Tallahassee is that he will play. That says volumes about how much Florida State wants to keep James Blackman off the field. Travis is a decent option against Louisville just based on price alone. The ceiling isn’t all that high though.

Terry Wilson has had a couple of rough games in a row, but he’s still cheap enough that he’s on my radar against Missouri. Missouri’s defense looked decent against LSU, but Wilson is a lot more mobile than Brennan. Wilson is a strong option because of the rushing yards.

Bailey Hockman is so stupid cheap against a porous defense that I’m going to use him a few times. Sure, it may bottom out a couple of lineups, but we realistically only need about 15 points from him for the price. The chances of that happening are better than 50/50, which makes him a better dart than Yellen or Pickett against the Irish.
