5. Fantasy football predictions: Lions T.J. Hockenson puts up TE1 production

T.J. Hockenson was a first-round draft pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. Since then, he’s been a supremely dude talented on a lackluster team.  A lot of this has to do with Matthew Stafford missing significant time in 2019 after an amazing start to the season, and that’s out of Hockenson’s control.

Three times in 2020 Hockenson has had games with 50-plus yards receiving. The consistency is starting to build for him in Detroit. But his most profitable performance was in Week 2 against the Packers when he caught four passes for 62 yards. He’s had a ceiling thus far in 2020.

He’s due for a big game. The Atlanta Falcons are a fitting team to pound. Why? On average, Atlanta is surrendering over 13 PPR points per game to tight ends. A guy with Hockenson’s skill set should be rubbing his palms together in excitement.

Sunday’s tryst in Georgia showcases two teams in the bottom tier of the NFL — in virtually every statistical metric. Points will likely be racked up, and all fantasy owners will reap the benefits.

We pick Hockenson to capitalize on the Falcons tight-end woes. We forecast a 12-20 point PPR week for Lions tight end.
