Michael Thomas’ latest injury update is awful news for Saints
With Michael Thomas’ status up in the air following a hamstring injury, New Orleans Saints fans have to be concerned right now.
Other than the Seattle Seahawks, there’s no team in the NFC With more confidence right now than the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Behind Tom Brady, the Bucs took down the previously undefeated Green Bay Packers in Week 6, stomping them from start to finish.
With Tampa Bay at the top of the NFC South standings, the New Orleans Saints are ready to remind them that they’re ready to fight for the division title as well. However, things will be made extremely difficult if Michael Thomas can’t get back on the field.
After suffering an ankle injury in the Week 1 win over Tampa Bay, Thomas looked poised to return to the field this weekend. However, a new hamstring injury has put those plans on hold for now, which of course is terrible news for Drew Brees and this offense.
The Saints need Michael Thomas back as soon as possible to help them push for a division title
When Thomas is healthy, he’s inarguably one of the best wide receivers in the game. His ability to make defenders look silly truly is incredible. We saw that last season, as he had a mind-blowing 149 receptions for 1,725 yards and nine touchdowns, of course leading to Pro Bowl honors.
However, if he continues to battle injuries and can’t stay on the field, that’s going to be a massive problem for New Orleans. Brees needs Thomas as his main down-field threat. Whenever the two are able to connect, magic ensues.
With Tampa Bay playing at a high level, the last thing New Orleans needs is for Thomas to miss even more action. We’ll wait to see how his injury status plays out this weekend, but things aren’t looking good.
