3 trades Steelers should make to pass the Ravens

Again, the Steelers need to add a replacement for Devin Bush, and there happens to be a team looking to completely tank their season. Of course, we’re talking about the New York Jets, aka the future home for Trevor Lawrence. More importantly, they have an inside linebacker available to move in Avery Williamson.

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler linked Williamson to the Steelers as a fill-in for Bush, especially since New York is selling. Williamson is a free agent, and the Jets have holes to fill all across the roster, so it’s best for general manager Joe Douglas to get as much draft capital as possible for a player they’re likely letting walk at season’s end.

Williamson is a heat-seeking missile when it comes to finding the ball carrier, as was evidenced since his signing with the Jets in 2018. He tallied 116 total tackles, six passes defended, three sacks and one interceptions his first season with the Jets. Williamson didn’t have the opportunity to follow up on that impressive campaign, as he tore his ACL in the 2019 preseason. But this year, Williamson has been the best player on New York’s defense, and it’s not even close. Through five games, the veteran linebacker recorded 34 total tackles, three passes defended and one interception.

If the Steelers were to prioritize one of the Williamson or Davis, the best choice is the Jet.
