. 2. Pick Analysis. Jameis Winston. player. 15. Scouting Report. QB, New Orleans Saints

Speaking of an aggressive, erratic style of play and a wide range of outcomes, I give you Winston. In 2019 for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, he had the first 30-30 season in NFL history (33 touchdowns, 30 interceptions), while leading the league with 5,109 passing yards (the eighth-highest mark in league history).

There’s no denying Winston’s physical talent, and he suggested signing with the Saints would give him what’s akin to a Harvard education in offense from Sean Payton and Drew Brees. He would be first in line to step in if Brees were injured, and thus be tasked with keeping the Saints’ all-in 2020 season on a Super Bowl-or-bust track.

Winston took a cheap one-year from New Orleans with an eye on hitting free agency again next March, and a starting opportunity is likely a better possibility for him then. But it would be helpful if he had some 2020 game tape when he hits the market again, and unless Brees gets hurt that’s not happening with the Saints this year.

The Saints probably have no motivation to trade Winston. But the Cowboys should consider making an offer, and if it’s a good enough offer the Saints would have to listen.
