Baker Mayfield’s interception didn’t just hurt the Browns in the turnover department

Mayfield has become notoriously turnover-prone in the early stages of his third season in Cleveland. Odell Beckham, Jr. was injured on the play, delivering what could potentially be a big hit to the Browns receiving corps. Even with Jarvis Landry and Austin Hooper, Cleveland is already down Nick Chubb. Should the offense be dealt another blow, it’s become fairly obvious that Mayfield can’t carry this unit on his own.

OBJ tried to make a tackle on the play, but given the miscommunication he shouldn’t have been in this position to begin with. Baker ought to put his wideouts in a better position, especially given their status as former All-Pros.

Even should Baker turn things around against the lowly Bengals, there’s a reason Browns fans are routinely frustrated with their former No.1 overall pick.

Beckham, Jr. is out for the game, and we’ll be sure to keep you updated on his status. The fact remains, though, that Mayfield needs to be more consistent should the Browns make a realistic run at the AFC playoffs. If not, he’ll be just another in a long line of disappointing Cleveland quarterbacks. Surely Browns fans expect more of him.

Next. Browns fans have seen enough of Baker Mayfield against the Steelers. dark
