Randy Arozarena just can’t stop making MLB postseason history in 2020.

Randy Arozarena only appeared in 23 games for the Tampa Bay Rays during the regular season. Now he is MLB’s new all-time leader in home runs for a single postseason.

But that is not all. Arozarena continues to build his legend this October and picked up a hit early in Sunday’s Game 5 against the Los Angeles Dodgers. That was no ordinary hit as the young star now holds the record for the most hits in a single postseason.

Arozarena is on fire

Never heard of the young slugger before this year? Becoming a star in October is what makes baseball so special and Arozarena went from an unknown, to the casual baseball fan, to a household name.

That gives him six hits in the World Series alone and Arozarena has only gone hitless in four postseason games so far. He has picked up at least three hits on five occasions. So much for feeling pressure on the big stage.

The rise of Arozarena has happened so fast. He appeared in 19 games for the St. Louis Cardinals in 2019 before being traded to the Rays this past offseason. He then had 18 hits and seven home runs during the regular season this year.

Game 5 marks only his 19th game of the postseason. So not only has he eclipsed his regular season totals, but he has set records in the process.

Cardinals fans, and those within the organization, are likely watching Arozarena and wondering why he was moved on from at the age of 25. St. Louis signed him back in 2016 and he was traded after a total of 19 games. That is not much evaluation and the Rays are proving why they can have sustained success with such a low payroll.

Players need to make a deep postseason run and basically have a long World Series to set records. Those behind Arozarena, such as Pablo Sandoval and Jose Altuve, had their high hit totals under similar circumstances. However, the difference for the Rays star is he has done so with about six weeks of experience.

This is still only Game 5 and the series is tied 2-2. Arozarena may build records that are impossible to top in the future if he has a hot finish to the series. Do you expect anything less at this point?
