Kyle Shanahan’s club made its way east for the third time this year and invaded Foxborough for the first time since 2012. And the Niners’ ground attack had its way with New England’s defensive unit as running back Jeffery Wilson carried 17 times for 112 yards and three scores and San Francisco accumulated an impressive 197 yards rushing.

The 49ers’ defense kept Bill Belichick’s team out of the end zone and picked off Patriots’ quarterbacks four times.

There have been some positives when it comes to the team’s up-and-down start, most notably Matt Eberflus’ defensive unit which entered Week 7 allowing the third-fewest total yards and rushing yards per game while ranking No. 1 against the pass.

But veteran quarterback Philip Rivers has been erratic at best in his first season with the club, although he did help rally the team from a 21-0 deficit to beat the Bengals in the Colts’ last outing.

13. team. 32. . 5-2. Previous: . Arizona Cardinals

For the second straight week, Kliff Kingsbury’s team was in the prime time spotlight as the Cardinals’ NFC West showdown with the Seahawks was rescheduled for Sunday night.

Arizona’s defense surrendered 27 points and 377 total yards in the first half alone and trailed throughout. But Kyler Murray was resilient and the defense played its best football in overtime. And Zane Gonzalez’s second field goal try in the extra session (48 yards) won it.
